BBB – commence monitoring of Pied Oystercatcher & Beach Stone-curlew breeding sites and record site visit on BBB online Excel spreadsheet. Please, contact Jan at byronbirdbuddy@gmail.com if you wish to participate in a nesting bird-watch during the beach-nesting bird season – August to Dec.

 

Saturday 2nd   –   Belongil Estuary    08.00 – ending time variable depending on level of interest

Reason: An introduction to shorebirds for artists – inspiration to create work for Bird Week in October

How to Get There: Turn into Bayshore Drive off Ewingsdale Road, go past the IGA shopping Centre then over the railway line into the Elements Resort (North Beach) and park in the public carpark at end of the road where we will meet- we then walk to the beach and maybe cross the tidal creek but that will depend on the tide.

Monday 4th Byron Wetlands –      8am – 10.30 approx

Byron Wetlands – end of Wallum Place off Bayshore Drive, Byron Bay (1st left after IGA Shopping Centre), meet at the gate.  Belongil Beach – approx 1.30 – 14.00 – As above & meet at North Beach car park at end of Bayshore Drive following the survey at the wetlands. Low Tide @ 12.38 – .29mts

 

Tuesday 5th      Brunswick NR – Marshalls Creek      8am – 11.00 – – Meet at the end of North Head Road – New Brighton &  Vallances Road    3.00 – 15.00 – meet at small pond, bottom of hill along Vallances, and then proceed to the STP gate at end of the road following the survey at Brunswick Heads.

 

Week-end 8th – 10th BIGNET – Meeting Urunga – platform for NSW Bird Conservation Groups

Week-end 15th -17th   BirdLife Northern NSW – campout Lightening Ridge –

 

Wednesday 26th – Meeting with BirdLife Beach Nesting Birds – Pottsville (to be advised) – 9:30am – 1pm.Morning tea and lunch will be included.

 

Friday 29th – Byron Wetlands – 08.00   – 15.00

Reason:  Monitoring –
