BBB Annual Report 2019 – 2020

Our Annual Report period from October to September is presented to the BVL committee each year, this year in November,  and it is always a surprise when all our activities are condensed how much we manage to achieve and more so this year during the isolation of the Covid19 pandemic. The report tells story and also highlights the broader threat to our migrating shorebirds.

As a short note in regard to our breeding shorebirds in the Brunswick River & the Belongil Estuary, which in past years have been highly successful for both the 3 x Pied Oystercatcher and the Beach Stone-curlew, This year in the Brunswick none of the birds successfully nested, however in the Belongil of the two pair of Pied Oystercatchers, only one nesting pair was successful as was the Beach Stone-curlew.
