Bird Trails of Richmond Valley

Produced by members of Byron Bird Buddies, this brochure provides information on 23 locations & a list of known bird species (nearly 330) which have been recorded in the Richmond Valley Council area, which lies within the lands of the Bundjalung Nation who are the acknowledged traditional custodians of this land. You can download the brochure HERE
NOTE: During 2019 BBB spent many hours developing the Bird Trails of Richmond Valley – another brochure in our series of brochures highlighting birdwatching areas in the Northern Rivers of NSW. The brochure provides information on 22 birding sites within the Richmond Valley from the coastal area of Evans Head south to Whiporie and out to the ridges west of Casino with 5 sites in close proximity to the Casino township.
Unfortunately as the brochure was going to print in December nearly half of the sites in the south and south east of Casino were on fire. Except for Bundjalung NP where 69% of the park burnt, nearly 100% of the remaining protected areas were burnt. If you have the opportunity to monitor any of these sites or any land nearby it will help in the recovery phase if you upload your observations to the BirdLife Australia’s national data base, this will allow us to assess the site recovery. All details are on the back fold of the brochure. We hope you will still enjoy your birding experience in the Richmond Valley as recovery commences.
